Steve McDermott

Director

Steve is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of The Pensions Management Institute. He joined HEB in July 1990. Whilst advising individual and corporate clients on all areas of financial planning his more recent business development activity has been on the matter of Inheritance Tax Planning- using trusts for clients with accumulated capital where IHT looms large. Yes it is possible to gift assets into a trust to help reduce IHT and still have access to income! Steve spends much of his time helping clients transition from building up capital whilst working to using that capital to support them in retirement-particularly enjoyable when you have shared that journey with the client over many years.

Elaine Merritt

Associate Director

Elaine is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner; she joined HEB in 2011 and is part of the senior management team. She has been working in Financial Services since 1989 and advising clients since 1996. Elaine is involved in many areas of financial planning including advising on small self administered schemes (SSAS) and provides advice to both corporate and individual clients. Over the last few years one of her focuses for her corporate clients has been assisting them to implement Auto Enrolment. Elaine also advises on pension and retirement planning, Investment planning and tax and estate planning.

She believes that listening and truly understanding what someone wants to achieve is one of the most important skills and what clients value .

Sharon Vodden

Director

Sharon is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute. She joined HEB in June 1994. Sharon advises on all aspects of financial planning, for individuals and companies. Working with employers she particularly enjoys helping their staff to understand the value of the benefits offered and encouraging them to plan for life after work. Working with individuals, Sharon has enjoyed building long term relationships and seeing years of planning come to fruition. Working with small businesses she enjoys helping partners and shareholders structure their affairs to minimise taxation and ensure their families are protected.

She believes in providing solutions rather than products and works hard to give jargon free explanations.

Michelle Ainge

Manager and Senior Paraplanner

Michelle has 27 years in financial services and has worked for HEB since 2010. She is part of the senior management team at HEB and manages the administration and paraplanning team.

Michelle is a senior paraplanner with extensive knowledge of investment, retirement, corporate pensions,  tax and estate planning and deals with both our individual and corporate clients.

Sara Allman

Technical Assistant

Sara has been in the insurance industry since 1986 and has been with HEB since 1999. Sara currently processes all individual new business through to receiving the policy documentation and general day to day administrative duties including fund switches and rebalancing of portfolios.

Many clients will contact Sara to sort out any administration problems they have, she has a good rapport with our long standing clients.

Chris Britten

Receptionist and Facilities Manager

Chris has worked for HEB since 2001 and is our Receptionist and Facilities Manager.

He has more recently become involved with the Accounts side of the business and is responsible for the issuing of invoices to clients every month and also chasing outstanding payments.

Vicky Crosby

Paraplanner

Vicky has worked for HEB since 1999, she has over 10 years final salary scheme trustees administration experience and she now deals with our SASS administration. Vicky is an experienced paraplanner who researches financial products and writes suitability reports.

Rochelle Fielding

Paraplanner

Rochelle has worked in the financial services industry for 18 years since leaving university and has worked for HEB since 2013.

She has an in depth knowledge of pension, investment and protection products and also deals with tax and estate planning needs. She mainly deals with individual clients but has some corporate client involvement when needed.

Emma Melling

Group Pension Administration

Emma has been in the financial services industry for 13 years and has worked for HEB since 2017. Emma’s role within HEB is Group Pensions Administrator.

Emma mainly deals with the Group Pensions admin which includes auto enrolment, governance of schemes and providing data to The Pensions Regulator. More recently she has also been providing admin support for protection cases.

Riham Mousa

Trainee Adviser

Riham joined HEB in 2018 as a trainee financial adviser having worked in retail banking and financial services for 5 years.  She is currently studying towards qualified adviser status with a view to achieving Chartered Financial Planner. Riham is part of the paraplanning team providing research and report writing support, as well as accompanying advisers on client visits.
